Thousands of Ford Mustang enthusiasts came together last weekend to set a record. Proof of this lies in the fact that over 1,889 owners gathered for the event.
American muscle cars congregated in Trois-Rivières before hitting the road towards Quebec City. Some enthusiasts arrived the night before and slept in their cars to ensure they didn't miss the event, showcasing the dedication of Mustang owners.
A Record Celebration
As you may know, this year marks the 60th anniversary of the Ford Mustang. Therefore, it's no coincidence that fans of the American sports car chose May 5th to break this record.
Initially, over 1,964 Mustangs were expected to attend, which was already more than enough to surpass the previous record of 1,326 cars. However, it was later revealed that 1,889 cars departed from Trois-Rivières after the official count. This marks the largest Mustang convoy ever, a fitting celebration for the model's 60th anniversary.
What's most impressive is that the event was organized by enthusiasts without even involving Ford Canada.
According to on-site estimates, the convoy stretched over 40 kilometers between Trois-Rivières and Quebec City, impossible to ignore for other drivers on Highway 40 that day.
An International Record
While the majority of owners present to break the record were from Quebec, several Mustangs from other Canadian provinces were also spotted, as well as some with American plates. Our southern neighbors weren't the only ones to travel outside their country for the event; there were also a few Mustangs from France.
The previous record had been set in Belgium. Thus, one could say that the new record is closer to the original homeland of the American sports car.
The convoy of 1,889 Mustangs has been officially recognized by the Guinness World Records committee.
