I would like to tell you that everything is always clear and straightforward in the automotive industry, but that's far from the case. The current generation of the Ford Edge arrived on the market in 2014 as a 2015 model, which is a true eternity in this field. Yet, the model continues to please, and sales increase year after year. Certainly, the model's lineup has evolved considerably over time, with several aesthetic tweaks made both to the bodywork and the interior. It makes one wonder if some models aren't evolving too quickly.
We know that a new generation of the Edge is already on its way to China. The American manufacturer will therefore end production of the current model in 2024. They could have simply removed the Edge from the market for 2024, but the manufacturer has decided otherwise. Indeed, Ford is stretching the sauce for at least another year with the current version. It's not necessarily a bad thing since the Ford Edge still enjoys a lot of success in North America.
Range and Price
Just so you understand why I sincerely believe that the Ford Edge still has its place in the market, let me tell you about its price. I was working at a Ford dealership in 2015, and I remember very well the arrival of this new generation. At that time, an Edge cost around $32,000 in its base version and $50,000 in its ultimate version. At the same time, you could buy an Escape for about $25,000 or an Explorer for $33,000. Thus, the Edge was not a cost-effective solution. Today, the least expensive Escape sells for $32,000, and you have to shell out a minimum of $50,000 to get an Explorer. On the other hand, the Ford Edge starts at $40,400. For this amount, you get a fairly comprehensive standard equipment in addition to getting all-wheel drive as standard. In my opinion, the Ford Edge is a real bargain, and that's why you should take advantage of it before the model is removed from the market or replaced by a more expensive vehicle.

Category and Competition
There was a time when the Ford Edge was more or less alone in its category. Thus, one could almost call it a pioneer in its own right. Nevertheless, the competition has significantly intensified over the years, and the midsize SUV segment is one of the most popular on the market today. It features some of the biggest names in the industry. It's a category where diversity is crucial to appeal to customers. Despite its age, the Ford Edge is still in a good position. I would even go so far as to say it's a true benchmark in its category.

Design and Technologies
After so many years on the market without major changes, I struggle to imagine what I could tell you about the Ford Edge that hasn't already been said regarding its aesthetic appeal. Strangely, the model's body hasn't aged a bit and it's still capable of turning heads, especially with new variants like the ST-Line. The Edge also offers a nice range of colors, which definitely helps it stand out from the crowd.
The Edge's interior is probably what betrays its age the most. Clearly, it features a Ford design from another era. Again, this isn't necessarily a bad thing since it's primarily a matter of taste. Personally, I quite like the vertical screen of the Edge. The navigation of the Sync system is smooth and very quick. It's the kind of thing we don't appreciate enough. The American manufacturer's SUV is also very spacious and offers one of the most comfortable rides in its category. In fact, I'd say it's probably the most comfortable vehicle I've had the chance to drive, disregarding luxury and prestige brands.
Performance
The 2024 Ford Edge offers two mechanical options, starting with a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. This engine produces 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. It's a bit modest for a model of this size. However, it allows the Ford Edge to maintain an average consumption of 11.5 L/100 km in the city and 8.3 L/100 km on the highway. This engine is paired with an efficient 8-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive is standard.
The other engine offered by the American manufacturer's SUV is exclusive to the ST version. It's a turbocharged 2.7-liter 6-cylinder engine paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission, also transmitting power to all four wheels. Here, the power reaches 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, enabling the Ford Edge to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 6.3 seconds. The American manufacturer's SUV also maintains an average consumption of 12.6 L/100 km in the city and 9.2 L/100 km on the highway.

Ford has achieved a feat with the current Edge. Few vehicles remain as popular as this American manufacturer's SUV after so many years on the market. Its catchy and elegant design plays a significant role in this success. The manufacturer has managed to keep the Edge afloat with only minor updates, and that's truly impressive.
